Richard Bernstein

Richard Bernstein, born in the Bronx, was an American artist most known for his pop art. Bernstein had exhibits all around the world, with his first solo exhibition in New York in 1965. He was later invited to the Byron Gallery Box show, which also featured many other artists including Andy Warhol. In the 1960s, he returned to New York City and lived in the Hotel Chelsea until his death in 2002. Many often associate Bernstein with Andy Warhol, who was an admirer of his art. Warhol later hired Bernstein to be the cover artist for Interview magazine. Today, Bernstein's art can be found in the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), Hirshhorn Museum (Washington, D.C.), and the Stedeliijk Museum (Amsterdam) among others.
